Kenyan Track & Field Athlete, Mutinda, Accepts USADA Sanction For Rule Violations

how is this not front page already? this is huge, almost as big as Kisorio, IMO. but wait, mutinda was just a scrub, right? yes he was, BUT the fact is that he was busted for the same thing that many other kenyans have been tagged for, norandro, which is often simply a contaminated supplement issue. however, the fact taht he ADMITTED to using EPO as well, changes the game. before, we could "possibly" excuse many kenyans' problems as naievity in using bad supplements, after all, who would get caught for norandrosterone,t aht's just stupid. now we have to wonder just how many of those kenyans weren't just using stupid stuff (that actually has little effect) but were stacking epo and GH and testosterone right along side the "little" drugs. wow, mind blown.

Quite a few of the recently banned Kenyans who had tested positive for Norandrosterone had made themselves unreachable (for months and years) to IAAF and Athletics Kenya. Not a sign they felt innocent.

i agree wholeheartedly. notice that 7 of those on that list (including Kisorio) were for norandro, which is easily passed off as "whoops, must have been a contaminated supplement." that excuse is actually very legitimate, but now it's looking like they were actually so stupid as to not only do serious stuff like epo, gh, test, etc, but also the little tiny drugs like norandro. norandro really isn't going to help in a noticeable way, IMO, so i don't understand why they are doing it on top of the "real" stuff, but just means that all those popped for it should perhaps also be viewed as doing the "hard stuff" as well. def a game changer, and one the iaaf/wada needs to be seriously targeting- though with literally hundreds of kenyans/ethios/etc with those talents, how do you realistically keep them all on some sort of doping controls? not likely to happen in our lifetimes.

Is it a coincidence that this kenyan trains in the US. Otherwise why would he care what USADA thinks, they have no jurisdiction over non-americans.

Thats not true. As all federations are signatories of the WADA code, they are all bound together.

For better or for worse...

Some athletes successfully appealed their ban to their national federation, allowing them to compete. The governing body wants to appeal, but has to wait for their appeal to be heard. In the meantime, that athlete is competing. The national federation allows it, and other countries are bound (until any appeal changes that).

An obstructionist tactic by Armstrong during his investigation was to argue what governing bodies did or did not have jurisdiction. CAS held that signatories of the Code are bound together.
