My friend said he has slept with two of his students after they graduate high school. Is this common?

At my high school one of the biology teachers had married his former student. It had all happened 20-30 years before I got there, so don't know the details, but always felt a little creepy.

Now I'm confused. Is there some other reason a man would become a high school teacher?

That was common in my high school. Usually the marriage was as a result of a pregnancy. I doubt it would have been illegal then. Many of the teachers in my high school were having sex with a student.

My friend, a high school English teacher, has told me he has slept with two of his students after they graduated from high school and were of course of legal age. Technically there is nothing illegal about this, but it just seems really weird to me. I talked to another friend a while back, and she said she slept with one of her teachers the summer after she graduated, so maybe this is common practice? Am I wrong for thinking the teachers are insane? Couldn't they lose their job for this? Do share.

yes, to questions 1 and 2, and "no" to three as it happens to many male (college undergrad) student teachers, I'm told (wink, wink). with the girl making the first move.

Morally, this is not black or white- you will not get a unified answer. It seems morally incorrect to me, but not as morally incorrect as if they were still students.

Morality is a scale, not always a yes or no.

You have to remember, many of these teachers that married a former student were 21 or 22 as a first or second year teacher, and the female student was 17 or 18 when graduating. Come back together in 3 or 4 years, and he's 25, she's 22. What's wrong with that?

In the thousands and thousands of years of our existence, this is not uncommon. how would you like to be some poor 14 year old girl who was given her hand in marriage to a 48 year old man? This happened in Europe quite often in the 12th, 13th and 14th centuries, and in some countries even in the 19th century.

For almost all cases, if it happens during the year of the student's graduation, it doesn't sound right.

In my county, of the 7 Districts, 5 have had incidences where teaches had relations with students while they were still enrolled in the last 3-4 years alone. I don't think this is uncommon.

Keep in mind that teachers can teach at 21-22 y/o. Some people are close to 19 at graduation. Not that big of a deal if they are no longer in school.

Dare to dream big, this could happen to you too, just get to teacher school and in four or five years it'll be you having affairs with students
