The legend grows. Carson Wentz is the real deal, folks. He's making the Steelers defense look mediocre today. Go Eagles!!!!!!!!!!!!

Star, your boy Wentz was legit today.
Wentz looks well beyond his years. He has great size and arm talent to boot.
So, two and a half years after the start of this thread and a year since the last post, the Eagles are 6-1 and have the best record in the NFL.
They face the 0-7 49ers on Sunday (who also fired Chip Kelly).
The Eagles actually look good at every position including special teams and have depth and good coaching.
Wentz is incredible

Jim Schwartz has a good defense.
The receivers are good.
The running backs rotate and are solid.
They have a kicker who had a 61 yard game winner against the Giants.
This really may be the Eagles year.
(I post this now because if I wait until a Super Bowl win, I may be waiting forever)
9-1 after whipping them 'Boys.
Quite a roster turn around since the offseason of two years ago.
The offense has the same starting center, right tackle and tight end from the 2015 team but that's it.
They don't have a single running back or wide receiver leftover from that team.
The defense kept more players, especially on the line but have a number of new guys brought in by defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz.
They have all new cornerbacks and they are pretty good.
The team defensive leader is safety Malcolm Jenkins who was brought in by Chip Kelly.
This is a pretty complete team with capable backups at most positions.

The Eagles are making so many moves this offseason it's worth its own thread.
After going 10-6 the last two years under Chip Kelly with no playoff wins this is what Kelly is doing right now.
Mainly getting rid of all of the players acquired by Andy Reid.
Pro Bowl QB Nick Foles - gone
...
.
I started this thread after the 2014 season and that was part of my original post.
Now Chip Kelly is gone.
Nick Foles is back and he is leading the Eagles to the Super Bowl with an amazing NFC Championship game today.

I thought you were a Cowboys fan?
Never a Cowboys fan.
Sorry if the name Star threw you off.
I used to post as *.
You made some nice calls on this thread, Star. Analysis was right on the money.
Maybe Howie R. could use an assistant. Looks like Foles is finding his rythym. Go Birds!
I never updated this thread after the Eagles won the Super Bowl.
Nick Foles Super Bowl MVP.
They went back to Wentz as the starter week 3 this season and he went 5-6 after a 1-1 start with Foles.
Then Wentz was diagnosed with a bad back and Foles started the last three games.
Upset the Rams in LA then upset the Texans then shutout the Redskins. They squeak into the playoffs as the lowest seed.
Foles lead them on a game winning drive to give a one point lead in a road playoff game against the Bears and the held on with a slightly tipped double doink field goal miss by the Bears as time expired.
Eagles win and move on to play the Saints.
Looks like they will let Foles go again this offseason to free agency.
Imagine if Foles leads them to another Super Bowl victory, though.
Foles is da man! Gonna get paid this offseason!
2 1/2 years later . . .
Foles left. Bad year with the Jags followed by a bad year with the Bears.
Wentz was OK in 2019, but not great. Knocked out of a playoff loss with a concussion.
He was horrible last year. Got benched for rookie Jalen Hurts then asked to be traded after the season - Wish granted. He is now a Colt.
Eagles rolling with Jalen Hurts, a healthy line, Miles Sanders at RB, 2 good tight ends with Ertz and Goedert, speedy receivers with DeVonate Smith, Reagor and Quez Watkins.
Crushed the Falcons yesterday 32-6.
Hurts went 27/35 with 3 TDs and no Ints. 62 yards rushing.
Sanders had 74 yards on 15 carries.
Everyone caught multiple passes. No turnovers.
The defense struggled giving up yards the first quarter and then shut down the Falcons from there.
Do we have a new dynasty going here?
The Eagles made a smart investment with Jalen Hurts. He gives them a chance. Hurts averaged 11 YPA during his one season at Oklahoma. But he dropped well into the second round because he hadn't demonstrated that 11 YPA form at Alabama.
11 YPA is a new phenomena in college football. Previously it was unheard of until recent seasons. But it has proven to be the vital reference point. Every other quarterback who has managed 11 YPA level has been drafted high first round:
Baker Mayfield
Kyler Murray
Tua Tagavailoa
Joe Burrow
Zach Wilson
Mac Jones
I forgot to mention the contrast to the Giants and the moronic decision to draft Daniel Jones with the 6th overall pick a few years ago. Daniel Jones is the antithesis of the 11 YPA formula. Jones never came close to 7 YPA at Duke. He was always in the 6.5 YPA range. Same thing in the NFL. Jones has been below average compared to his peers every step of the way.
The genius Giants general manager relied on grotesque subjectivity instead of defining numbers.
Cowboys fan here. I watched the game and Hurts looked like the real deal. Either he is going to be great or the Falcons are terrible. We'll know more next week when the Eagles face the 49ers. Just based on this first game, the Eagles look like a solid contender for the NFC East. WFT looks to be out of it, losing their starting QB in the first game. Daniel Jones really doesn't look much better than the typical journeyman QB. I don't know what the Giants were thinking when they drafted him. Ah well, I don't know what they were thinking when they hired Jason Garrett as OC. I celebrated when Dallas finally let Garrett go... and laughed when he got zero HC offers from 31 teams.
OTOH, Dak Prescott looked awesome. His one INT hit Lamb in the hands and skipped off. If the Cowboys can get their O line healthy and if one of their TEs steps up in the red zone, they'll have one of the top offenses in the NFL.
Bumping this thread with the Eagles going to the Super Bowl again.
The two big off-season pickups last year were AJ Brown at wide receiver and Haason Reddick at outside linebacker/ edge rusher.
A healthy offensive line has given Jalen Hurts time to blossom and be an MVP candidate.
Hurts and the beagles are garbage. Mahomes will shred them and I mean really shred them. Reid still has their number.
Mahomes looks fatter than Dan Fouts at his largest girth. Mahomes has lean and fit parents, Mahomes is a 20-something pro athlete but he has allowed himself to turn into a fatman. Mobility is important as a QB.
