PA Runner and all:
Regarding the Super Bowls and the game winning drives: Do you remember how much TIME Montana and Young used to have? Do you remember how open their receivers were? They have all of those Super Bowls, because it only took a good QB to get them, not a great one. Montana may not have been physically the same with KC....but I can recognize the fact that when a QB always gets 4-5 seconds behind the line to throw and his receivers are as open as they were, then the greatness falls with the line, coaches and system.
I will say that Montana was a very good QB, but Young was horrendous whenever his line did not do a top-notch job. He was a gifted runner, but was horrible at quick-decision dump-offs for a small gain in the face of an above average pass rush. If Young was a TRUE Hall-of-Famer, then he wouldn't have had a 60 passer rating just prior to joining San Fransisco (to which he immediately went to 120+).
Another thing: How many 'great' SF QB's in a row will it take before we realize the greatness label should be placed on the overall unit? I thought that when Jeff Garcia became a Pro Bowler that people would wake up.

peppers is the illest defensive player in the league. they tried to stop him...but you cant stop peppers, you can only hope to contain him. he now joins another former tar heel in winning rookie of the year, Lawrence Taylor. 56.
Hey juice are you a dumbass he isn't saying that Peppers isn't a bad ass he is just saying that the only reason hes so good is because he can pop the drugs with the best of them and LT was the best and dumbest druggie i ever saw in sports. Oh wait LT suxs and so does Peppers.
Next time why don't you try to stick up for Boulami maybe you can help him out by using a crack addict too. Great idea
LT sucks? As far as i know, all he was doing were performance de-hancing drugs. He may be/have been a cokehead, but he revolutionized the linebacker position, and that is that. You want to talk druggies, lets talk Dexter Manley.
as far as the 49er qb-young-montana hating... whatever.
4 rings. winning is winning.
du-can, As a scientist, I am not for or against any universtiy, UNC included. That said, your link was hilarious! Do you know who maintains it? Duke or NCSU people?I lived in NC for seveeral years and know how rabid their fans can be.
Listen Runner & listen well, drug use is not the problem. Drug use is just another natural means for trying to win. Get over it. Drug use is no different then buying the right food or using the right shoe. Is it fair that I have a heart rate monitor & you don't? Is it fair I make more $$ & can afford to but a Tent? Is it fair some of the bastards you lose to don't work? Fuck no it isn't, so get over yourself, nothing is fair. Those who are not on will lose, plain & simple. You have nothing to lose in trying to win. Don't be a loser do what you have to do. Find someone who will help you get on & train your ass off.
Two words dude.....Jim Druckenmiller.
That's 1 QB, PA.... But Drunkenmiller wasn't good enough to play in the NFL anywhere.
Here's a challenge: Can we name some SF QB's who have done better elsewhere???
I have already named 5 QB's in the past 10 years who have clearly thrived in SF's system. Anyone who tries to answer this question will understand my point.
Jonas - the message boards seem to be filled mainly with State fans... though I never thought State vs. Carolina was as intense as Duke vs. Carolina.
(Update - we just kicked Wake's ass. Only one perfect team now.)
Jeff Garcia's career stats. More proof.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/stats?statsId=4924Yea I know I'm bringing up an old one....but after Garcia's 8/27 for 71 yards and 3 interceptions, it seems about time everyone recognize those SF teams were great, not the QB's. Proof is proof.
