hi so im a hs runner, im in the 10th grade and would like to know your thought on what you think i might be doing wrong with my training.
this year so far in my xc session i started out good, i was training all summer. mainly long runs, some tempos and intervals about 200m-1600m. i never really took to many breaks, or rest days and i think my nutrition was alright, my times where good, i missed my first three races during the sessions but when i ran my first race i ran a pr of 16:30 for a 5k but after that race my my times where not as good and i dropped back a minute but brought it back down and back up. after that i started to get sick and that was pretty much the end of sessions and i was seated 1st for the conference champs in my area but i end up coming in 13th that day and after that was regionals and i didnt make it to states i was deeply upset for maybe 2 days but i told my self its ok ill come back and do better next year. i dont know if i over trainined or not but thats what my couch thinks is what may have happened. also my friends,coach and doctor thought maybe i wasnt eating enough and they may have something to do with since my energy levels werent up as usual.
but anyways now im in my indoor track sesions and im having same short of problems. my favorite race is the 800m . my pr in it is 2:02 in the relay and 2:05 in the open for outdoor. so how my training looking is
monday- pacers( fast interval, repeat training any where from 200m-700m theres lots of differn workouts we do) hard day
tuesday- easy day/ sometimes hard sprints
wednesy-meet days (usualy run the 4x8,mile,800,4x4)
thursday-recovery day easy run,sometimes a little hard
Friday- ploymetrics or intervals
we also do weight trainig about everyday but workout differnt parts of the body. usually i workout in the weight room or run on staturdays
well to get to the point my times havent been as good this season any my best so far is 2:08 so far but lately have been running 2:12 and up and its really upsetting me since i know i can run faster. also my training parnter who i train with we run and do the same stuff and the same intensity at practice and i ususlly beat him but he has been running way faster times then me which i feel i should be near his times as well. my coach just thinks im not getting enough rest and that i may be over training i trust what he says since he has trained and made a couple of state champs in the distance but i wanna hear what you guys think my goal is just to keep progressing and get better and faster
maybe im just not preparing my self right or maybe im just psyching myself out when i run/race. im just trying to achieve my goal of breaking 2 minutes by outdoor
