Ok I've decided to go ahead and try the stem cell injection.
I'll report back on my progress or lack thereof for anyone else who might be considering the procedure.
Just wondering if you ever did have the Stem Cell procedure and what the outcome was.
Hello everybody!
I'm planning on stem cells injections in my knee to cure the osteoarthritis which has bugged me for quite a while. I have been looking for some info about it as you did, and so far I haven't been satisfied with the results of my search. There are not enough proved facts about the stem cells ability to actually heal.
However, I, like many desperate pain sufferers who tried everything(pills, physical therapy, special shoes, knee braces) and didn't experience a lot of relief, want to continue searching for healing.
I want to attend the free seminar which maybe will shine a light on a stem cell therapy. ARO company holds them regularly. Maybe someone wants to join and share the impressions here later?
You can register on their website advancedregenerativeorthopedics.com.
If you decide to do it, please notify me here or via email
Stem cell therapy for arthritic knee does not require months of rehab and post-op care. However, with Stem Cell therapy, pain alleviation happens with a simple office procedure that is minimally invasive and non-surgical with minimal post-op care.

I'm the OP. I had stem cell treatment in September 2015. Today I went for a 3 km run with no pain. Still some "loose" feeling when walking distance and after the run. I intend to keep running and build the distance up. I'll let others know. It has been steadily getting better.
That's great! Please keep us all posted. What was your layoff time post-injection? Any rehab protocol?

Did the procedure cost an arm and leg though?

Has anyone had stem cell treatment to regenerate cartilage / meniscus?
Did it work? Would appreciate your responses. Also any experience with microfracture?
Didn't Nadal have stem cell therapy on his knees and now he's playing like he was at 20 again? Obviously he got the cutting edge stuff from the best surgeon..

I had the procedure and right now I have to say it was a success. I went for an 8M run this past weekend, then did a 6M hike later that day.
My procedure was done in the office. The marrow was extracted from my hip bone, put into a centrifuge to separate the stem cells, then injected into my knee.
The post-op was pretty standard as if you had a minor knee surgery.
2 weeks of complete rest, 2 weeks of very light non-weight bearing work (bike, leg lifts, clam shells, etc) 2-3 weeks of walking/elliptical, then I was cleared to jog that was (again) VERY limited we're talking 1 min jog/2 min walk alternating for 1-2M.
(it's hard to stick to the schedule because unlike knee surgery, the injection reduced any inflammation I had to Zero.)
It took me a long time to get to where I can run (jog). I still have a very achy knee after I run, but there's a big difference in ache vs sharp limp inducing pain I had before.
I still have to do all my PT work to stay on top of this thing. I had such atrophy during my time off and I just have a really bad right knee. My quad is taking all the pounding, my knee joint used to handle.
I'm a long way from racing, but right now I'm just glad to be out side and out of the gym.
Be very selective when choosing a clinic. The doctor whose hands you will put your life into should be a PhD and should have at least 5 years of practice in this field.
While many doctors who work at stem cell clinics don't even have a degree.
The example is NSI Stem Cell, Florida based clinic, that doesn't mention the list of doctors on their website simply because they don't want people to know that they are chiropractors.
Yes, friends, NSI Stem Cell are chiropractors. I can prove it by dropping the links to the website with NSI doctors bios
Dr. Eric Edgerton D.C
(DC stands for Doctor of Chiropractic. The one who is definitely not allowed to perform such complicated procedures as injecting biopharmaceuticals )

I hate when people disregard other people's safety to make money.
I had stem cell treatment about a year ago in this clinic
https://advancedregenerativeorthopedics.com
And I can say that after only a month after the procedure I was able to take short walks several times a week with no pain. Now I am completely back to my physically active lifestyle. Moreover, I was pleasantly surprised that they are in-network doctors and that the procedure was partially covered by health care.
I recommend Advanced Regenerative Orthopedics, they saved my knee! I was advised by 3 doctors to do the knee replacement, but I wanted to find an alternative. And I found it! If you're doubtful, you can send your MRI or X-Rays for a no-cost review https://advancedregenerativeorthopedics.com/no-cost-mri-review
I'm just wondering how are you now? I'm suffering the pain in my both knees and 3 years ago I was told I need a knee replacement surgery. I had a chance to be present at a free seminar regarding stem cell treatment, held by doctors from ARO clinic and I was pretty impressed with the results they were talking about.
I think it helped me. If you read my earlier post it describes exactly how the procedure went.
Here's what I can tell you from the doctors I talked to.
I had knee surgery for a torn meniscus 2 years ago (that's what completely sidelined me and exasperated my already terribly arthritic knee pain). My surgeon said that he considered stem cell injections to be a shot in the dark at best. He does work for the NFL and said that the NFL has stopped using it because they had no proof of results AND there has been no proof that stem cells help regrow cartilage verified by MRI or arthroscopic observation.
If anyone has a vested interest in getting athletes back to work it's the NFL and they would certainly use it if it worked.
So his recommendation was not encouraging at all.
The doctor that performed the procedure is not a surgeon. He's not a chiropractor or anything sketchy like that. He's an orthopedic doctor, just not surgeon. He has treated me with Supartz injections before that were very helpful. He made no over the top promises, but he did say he's had patients report improvement, in both shoulder and knee pain.
I decided to go for it because it was the last bullet in the gun.
Thanx so much for your reply! I had a no-cost consultation in Advanced Regenerative Orthopedics clinic with their orthopedic surgeon. The procedure is scheduled in two weeks.
One more pleasant surprise is that their doctors are in-network with most major insurance carriers including Medicare. It means that the doctors’ visits and prescriptions will be partially covered by health care.

This sounds like and ad.
"A shot in the dark at best?" I figured that was case as joint replacement surgery has gone through the roof in this country. If stem cell therapy was the real deal then millions of people wouldn't be going through major surgery to alleviate the painful symptoms of OA.
https://www.bostonglobe.com/business/2018/04/02/boomers-line-for-joint-replacements-and-their-expectations-are-high/NSyWYCkx86ZJFBmtEOX6LP/story.htmlThere is no evidence that Stem Cell injections do anything other than leaving tissues which can cause fibrosis in joints. Avoid it unless you have a physician who has 100% proven success, otherwise your choices are, swim more, be a lazy bum, or just get a new knee.
A fool and his money are soon parted.
