-- Cowart, Donald Crazy Running DNF
It was a fun race to watch. If you have a runnerspace pro account, you can watch the race here:
Leslie with the help of rabbit Donald Cowart pulled away from Manzano on the 3rd 200.
They were probaaly 59ish for 409 with Manzano close to Leslie but a lap later (128 for 609) Manzano was gapped.
Leslie hit 880 in about 156 with Manzano and Masters in about 159 (Leer was behind that).
At 1209, Leslie was very close to 356 high to 357 flat so he only ran about 60 flat for his last 400. The chase pack was 3+ seconds back.
At the bell, Leer was 2nd and Manano third and Leer ran 27 last 200 but couldn't catch Leslie. Leer and them didn't really start gaining until the last 100. Manzano let up at the line and got nipped by Elliott.
Very courageous race for Leslie and easily the best mile run this weekend even with all the great performances as his was done on a flat 200m track!
When will Will Leer ever put himself on a fast pace for a 1500? Always near back regardless of pace and kicking like crazy. Kudos to Leslie for getting after it.
Courageous for sure. He's an inspiring racer-- keep an eye out for him in 2016!
Always runs fearless. Curious as to why he's not running Millrose?
