Call me when Levins does anything of substance. Besting Rupp at B meet isn't impressive.

LOL if Rupp is training through, Levins is, too. If Rupp is tapering so is Levins.
Don't you get it?

Not good for Cam's future...how long before Salazar makes him leave? Can't be beating the poster boy. Just ask Ciaran.
Ask BEGLEY.
where can we see the race replay? I missed it

Didnt you hear him... it was just a RUSTBUSTER
Explain his 13:01 indoor 5k AR last year in Boston, you know, just an ole Rustbuster
All the races are uploaded on Runnerspace
Stick a fork in that elf.
I'm sure that they know Rupp was not right, which was why they poor-mouthed expectations for the race. Nevertheless, beating the anointed one has been the kiss of death for Salazar athletes other than Farah, who was brought on precisely to help Rupp get better and to spread the Nike brand in the Commonwealth. It will be interesting to see what happens after this. Cam Levins did great and we could see this kind of work in the offing from that post-race workout last year, where Rupp was suffering a bit and Levins finished off the workout very strong.

How about, "Rupp, just didn't have it. The better runner won"

You're joking right. This was maybe the most unreal double I've ever heard of. Less than minutes after a 354 mile. He wins a world class 2 mile. If I doubled a kid that quickly when I was coaching at cornell I'd probably be investigated for child abuse.
How he recovered that quickly is astounding..

He def could have run quicker if he focused on either race. Is there a WR for mile/2-mile-in-one-meet?
I liked how in both wins he didn't do an early number-1 pose, he just pushed hard to the finish, and high fived NOPers are the track later on. No grandstanding. He knows Rupp wasn't at his best, and grand standing would have looked foolish.
Why would the meet matter? He still raced Rupp, he still won. How you can think this double that Cam pulled off isn't anything of substance astounds me. Or rather, I'm astounded that anyone could be this stupid.

-what's your number? I'd say that a 3.54/8.15 (4.14/4.01) would substantially qualify.
Cam just doubled 3:54 , 8:15 30 minutes apart indoors. That's substance in and off itself.
Nice finish by Osako for runnerup

levins is a beast. but beasts can over do it, like when he ran the college season and went to the OG and ran both 5 and 10 K, while sick.
but levins when he is right can easily handle 1 and 2 mile double abuse. actually it's great training. of course you have to be recovering well from workouts to benefit from work like this.
cudos to al-sal and levins too for sticking it out and getting healthy. seems levins is back on the trajectory for a decent if not great career.
rupp and levins need to get comfortable with one another if they aren't already because this could be the start of a great rivalry.
as for rupp's performance, i'm not sure if they backed off the mileage very much for this one because the field was not super strong. he'll be sharper in the weeks to come.

I've been meaning to bring this up. Isn't the Rupp and Farah training partner relationship a little awkward now? It was great when Rupp wasn't seriously trying to challenge Farah's gold medal aspirations.]
Imagine how awkward it'd be if they finished seconds apart at the Olympics!!
This is the Beast Cam from NCAAs 2012. Heir apparent.

Rupp lost a 5K like 2 weeks before he ran the AR in the 10000m, where he basically was able to double that 5000m time he ran. Obviously I'm sure he wanted to win today, but I still have the theory that he wants something special to happen at Millrose, and is just training through this.
I'll still put him for sub 13 at millrose and this was just a rust buster. If he lost millrose I think that means there was a problem
Yesssssss end of thread
