I'm a highschool runner and i have a coach that completely neglects aerobic development for the distance runners. We do tons of speedwork like 200s and 400s and 300s, no tempo or threshold runs, and long runs of 4 to 5 miles. We also go about 2-4 on easy days fast. I find that most of our runners crush the first mile of a 5k or 3200 and end up fading up to a min per mile after that. My performance is also suffering although i do a 11 mi run on weekends. How should i approach my coach and allow him to start realizing the importance of aerobic development and for him to start incorporating longer aerobic runs?
