I'm towards the end of my base phase for indoor track. I've been doing a decent bit of mileage(some doubles), tempos and some fast stuff sprinkled in here and there. I can't really run outside because the windchill here is currently around -10 (I live in PA, specifically northwest aka frozen hell).
I do have my own treadmill but it is kind of old and only goes 10mph at its fastest. I would consider 6 minute pace (10mph) to be within the range for my tempo pace, although on the slower end.
Would doing a tempo run at this pace for 5-7ish miles be sufficient rather than doing one a little shorter like, 3-5ish miles @5:40-5:50 pace outdoors or on a different treadmill?
For reference, some of my track goals are a sub 9:10 3k (although I would be happy with sub 9:15), sub 16:10 5k, and sub 4:30 mile. So would a tempo type run at that distance and speed be beneficial?
