Has anyone run the Pyongyang marathon in North Korea?
If so, what attracted you to do the race? What sights did you see. Any advice for someone who's bucket list adventure is to do such a race?

Is that the one that Kim Jong Il won in just under 2 hours?
Precisely! That's the one.

Did he ever say what kind of mileage he was doing in order to be able to break 2 hours? You would think that others would try to copy him since no one else has accomplished this yet.
I believe he was about 300 mpw (480 km), on average. He usually fit in his miles before and after work. He took Sundays off to golf, as I recall. On one of his Sunday rounds, he got 18-holes-in-one, believe it or not. He was an incredible person.
I am signed up for the 2017 race, looking forward to it.
Please don't go. There's always a chance you're not coming back. Think labor camp for the rest of your life over some trumped up (or not trumped up but still BS charge). NOT EFFING WORTH IT. --Korean American here.

I'm not too worried about it.
Bigger concern is whether strava works there. Anyone know?
I ate at the Pyongyang restaurant in Dalian and got the runs. Does that count?

OK. Good luck contacting the Swedish embassy when your Strava shows you as the only one to challenge Kim Jong Un's 1.8km route.
