Your 400 and 800 are the most impressive. I'd lift a little and try to become a mid D guy if I was you.
Will lifting help because im taking a lifting class at my school and Ive been told that it could make my 5k time slower but help with shorter distances i only weight about 120 pouds and im already benching my body weight and i want to get my 5k down to about 17:30 next year so our team can have a shot at making it to semi state
While your 800 may be your best time, it takes longer to train for the 5k.
This means that if you want to make a difference next fall you should run at least 30 miles every week.
On the other hand, you need to run those 30 miles around some 800 training with fast repeat 200s, 300s, or 400s with enough rest to keep the workout from being killer hard once every week.
Eventually, you will figure out if you are better at the 800 or 1600. Good luck
