what do you have to sell? ebay is a great way to raise money, and you can do it all by yourself from your dorm room. flip clothes, text books, etc. I was an NAIA guy like you, slower and wanted to run the same race, as well as the club regional many years ago. I saved my money throughout the year, sold running shoes on ebay, went to marshalls and bought clothes on sale, and flipped them for profit, and paid my way to the race. I did this with most of my races until i earned a spot on a local club team which covered race entries only.
ask yourself, "what would Louis Zamperini do?"
Hey guys, I really need a new car. I'm tired of driving my 2001 Ford and would like a new one. I work a couple of jobs but I'd rather spend my money on beer and women than to use it on something that I feel is important to me and could potentially further my career. So I'm asking all of you to help contribute to my new car fund.
When I get my donation page up and running, I will post a link here.

Yes to the above. I've been in the grind quite a few times and you need to work this out yourself or choose to not go this year. Ebay or craigslist some of your stuff.
You should open a credit card (pick from this list, look for no annual fee): and with the [at least] 25,000 free miles you'll get from the card (should be available in December if you sign up now) get a free flight. Work a little extra between now and then, put your hotel/other expenses on the card and pay that off when it's due in March.

Go over and kill people in different countries, get captured for killing them, get released, talk about how terrible those bad people were and how good the USA is, turn all religious and then write a book.
if your goal is to start building a resume for post-collegiate running, you're better off focusing on lowering your track PR's than extending your xc season for a club race that very few pay attention to.
If you really want to make waves, head to houston for the US half championships in January.
Classic entitled generation move. America is doomed.
Only $1080 of $1100 to go. Dig deep, friends.

what did you earn for a master's degree and what liberal arts universities did you attend?
p.s. to the OP: try tracktalk.net to sell running stuff in the spikes section, look for odd cleaning or construction jobs on craigslist, collect aluminum cans, etc (no joke: I collect cans from the trash, the beach, the trails (pick up 3-5 each run) and this year I am on pace for $300 in recycling money. last year's total in scrap metal was over $1k. easy money with minimum effort involved, and you can do this from a dorm room).
All i'm trying to do here is get people to help me pay for my trip to Pennsylvania. If you don't want to donate, don't. No harm done. I'm not trying to make people feel obligated or anything. I was just simply spreading the word on Letsrun.
As for me being cheap or what have you. I do work 2 jobs like I said. Both of those jobs combined, I work maybe 10 hours a week at $9.10. My money goes towards bills and school. I don't come from wealth the slightest bit so I don't get much financial help from my family or obviously I wouldn't be doing this. I can't get approved for a credit card that would have enough cash on it because I already tried to do that. If I don't raise the money, well then I take my down time after cross nationals and get ready for indoors.
Coming into this cross season I knew I wanted to run it but I did not know if I was going to be fit or not, so my plan was to wait and see what we can do towards the end of the season. I didn't get to race much this season because of arch issues but that is better now. I did however just run 24:18 for 8k on a slower course and I do believe I am in sub 30 shape for 10k. The other week I closed a 6 mile workout in 14:30 for 3 miles feeling easy. That was also a higher mileage week. As for why don't I just call it quits after cross nationals so I can start focusing on lowering my track times? Well because I know those are going to come anyways, and I would also like to show that I can do more than just run track races(Ben True for example). I didn't run fast last year being that it was my first full year back from some odd year hiatus, so 3:48 and 14:32 aren't bad off of 60 mpw and no consistency in my training in the prior years.
I hope that answers some questions. If I came across rude or condescending, not my intent at all and I apologize for that. Thanks again for anyone who has shared and offered helpful advice!
Hey DJ, if I had the mileage points, I would fly you out there. I believe in you and it would be great to see you line up against a solid field of pros.
Good luck.
By the way, if you do get out, I will gladly host you at my house and drive you to the race and feed you. I'd be your sponsor host, so you can take that off your list. I will provide all housing and transportation when you get here. Just try to find a flight!
I have no doubt you could pay for it if you wanted to, but you'd rather others foot the bill so you can live your life as you wish.
You have a Flotrack Pro membership and post pictures of eating sushi on FB. Learn some responsibility, save your money and quit being a charity case. I'm guessing your irresponsibility had something to do with your running hiatus.
You claim to have two part time jobs but they are only 10 hours per week COMBINED? That's very misleading. I wouldn't even consider that 1 part time job. Can you explain why you work so little?
That's less than 2 hours per day. What are you doing with the rest of your time???
One of my former college teammates did something like this. Raised a bunch of money to go to the Olympic Trials then didn't even get into the meet. Somehow I doubt she reimbursed everyone...
Seriously. What the hell. I work almost 40 Hours per week. Part time. 7:30-2. The rest of the day is free. Plenty of time for running. What the hell does this guy do all day!? And how does he only work 10 hours BETWEEN TWO FVCKING JOBS!?
I'd just as well pay you to stay the hell away from PA. We don't want your types contaminating our state.

This MB is so littered with juvenile unimaginative unsupportive a$$holes that I sent the kid $20 just to p*ss them off.
I remember dropping out of a marathon and a guy handed me $20 for me to hail a cab. Pay it forward and good luck, kid. I hope you run well.
