Fact is: running makes you weak, no matter if your 20 or 70.

Your stance on distance running is well-known here. That said, I'm surprised you didn't advocate strength training as a primary factor to staying healthy at that age. You could probably make a decent case for cross-fit-like activities as a supplement to distance running at that age as explosiveness naturally declines by the time you get to ~70.
