is doing two long runs a day next summer a bad idea even if i work up to it? also is major mileage like that effective for training for 1-3 mile races? and finally would i need some spped workouts? im 14 and will be 15 next summer.

That is a terrible idea. Two long runs a day would be nearly impossible to work up to, and wouldn't be very beneficial at all. The 5k does demand some high mileage, but not mile-two mile. I'd say 60 mpw is the most you should do during the 5k training. 45 mpw should be the max for mile-two mile. You don't need two long runs, and you don't need such high mileage that you have to do a long run twice. If you're running at least 50 mpw currently, feel free to wake up and do some recovery mileage between 3-5 miles at a nice easy pace.
