NO, Dennis DID have a great day and was spent at the end, as he should have been. Dropping another 2:57 is going to be quite a feat.
15 years on a certified course with no drugs, not gonna happen people.
On April 3rd, 1993 the hour barrier was broken for 13.1 miles. It took 21 years for that time to drop 1:24 seconds to the current 58:23 that has stood for 4.5 years. Now...do you really believe that someone is going to string 2 sub 60 minute halves together on a certified course without the aid of drugs?
Here's another angle. Do you think in 15 years someones is going to drop 1:28 for EACH half marathon of a FULL marathon to run 2:57 faster and break 2 hours????????? As mentioned, it took 21 years to drop 1:24 for ONE half!!!
It's NOT going to happen and I'd be happy to sit down with Renato any time that he would like and discuss it. I'd even be willing to place a large bet with anyone on this board that it won't happen and have a lawyer draw it up...nice and legal like:)
Barely breaking 2:03 is a great feat, but it's not anywhere remotely close to breaking 2 hours for a marathon. Dream on people, not in our lifetime.
