What should we talk about?
What should we talk about?
This isn't a big city issue. If you have lived in a New England small town for forty or fifty years, and you go for a walk around the neighborhoods after Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner and happen to encounter any other long-term residents, do not say hello or Happy Thanksgiving or Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays, because they will not respond or even look at you. They will proceed on their own way, stuck in their own proud New England bubble.
Even in big cities in the South, strangers say hello to each other as a rule. It's no fake friendliness. They brighten each other's moods and recognize each other's humanity through standard forms of social interaction.
My neighbors in Boston say hello all the time, and they don't even speak English.

Mostly liberals? Only about 1/3 of registered voters are Democrats.
Gotta agree. Although Boston has a liberal image, the citizens by and large don't have the "we hate America and are entitled to free stuff from people who work for a living" attitude that's so prevalent in the liberal community. Rather they have a strong sense of independence, personal responsibility, and they love their law enforcement officers.
It's a great town to visit.

You have it backwards. The the liberal image is "we have compassion for other less fortunate Americans, believe they deserve the benefit of the doubt, are entitled to free stuff out of a sense of fairness and compassion." Boston is the epitome of this image. We're wealthy, educated, hard working, and liberal, meaning we believe in social programs that benefit those less fortunate than ourselves.
You LEFT Colorado to come to Massachusetts????
WHY????
3 reasons why Bay Staters are 'depressed':
Deval "Devil" Patrick
Elizabeth "The fake Indian" Warren
Ed "Mr. Softee" Markey
I don't know of but ONE individual who admits voting for any of those 3.
I could go on about how this whole state has become a de facto "Sanctuary" for illegal immigrants.
I could go on about Marsha "It's not illegal to be illegal in Massachusetts" Coakley...who is the god da*ned STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL!!!!
On the other hand if you are a trust fund baby or Liberal, you have it knocked here.
That's the way it is and God Help America
Answer: Because Boston is so tough and mean. You should be scared and watch your step in Boston. Remember, tt was New Englanders who kicked the shit out of white racist and coward, Robert E Lee and his Conferderate fag militia.
you all have to disregard these media-driven notions that the Northeast is full of liberals and the South is so conservative. Sure NE states vote for Democrats TO THE TUNE OF 55 vs. 45%! Similarly, the southern states vote Republican usually by similarly close ratios. Yet FOX interprets that as if 99% of Northerners were liberal whackos. And MSNBC interprets it that the South is nothing but racist redneck reactionaries. When in fact both regions have plenty of people supporting both sides as well as huge numbers of people in the middle or who don't care.

ROFLMAO...at least they aren't saying "Allah Akhbar" then try to behead you.
How do they act on subways in Colorado? Oh that's right, there are no subways. Maybe what you are actually observing is simply that people taking public transit to their daily jobs aren't interested in some forced small talk with a dweeb such as yourself.
Wait, I thought that was the descendants of the Mulim
"Founding Fathers" whom Obama spoke of?
Funny thing is, I cannot find any names.
Perhaps the OP was not in Boston, but was in Chelsea, New Bedford, Milford, Chicopee or Roxbury?

As I said it's a different breed of liberals. You just read off the conservative doctrine. Liberals don't contribute to charity. They just try to convince you they care by never shutting up about how much they care.
Liberalism is more akin to libertarianism in Boston.

Hardly. Ever hear of Ed Brooke, Bill Weld, Mitt Romney, Scott Brown, etc?

I could not disagree more. Not sure where you live, but in my little part of NE I can't go for a run or walk without being greeted by 2/3 of the people I encounter.

Not in Boston, but in Roxbury? Where did you say you were from again?

If you don't know anyone who voted for all three of them, then you're not from Massachusetts. Or you're in prison.
As further proof of your cluelessness, you don't even know the name of the AG and perhaps next governor.
It's weird. I was on the 1 train today when everyone got naked and we had an orgy. That's why they introduced "family friendly" carriages.
There's light rail. C, D, E, F, G and W lines are running. The line to the airport is about 2 years out, and the gold line to Arvada is about 3 years out.The W line is like the Riverside line, except free parking and no a$$holes on board.Lived both places. Denver by a mile.Oh yeah, Tom Brady's a pretty boy cheater and the Red Sox suck.
