Sr year of high school I ran 50.8 early and a 2:09
By end of year my PRs were 50.2 and 2:02
I didn't improve my 400 PR in college but my 800 year end PRs were 1:55.8, 1:53.3 then 1:50.7 Jr year.
Sr year of college 49.5 and 1:49.7
Split 48.8
43.45
2:08
After winning the Olys, things haven't been the same. Anyhow, so many of you hypothesized on what I could run for 800m, I thought Id post my best 800 time. With some training I believe I could get under 1:41.
My style is fresh though yo, so if I don't do it, it aint no thing
49.6, 1:53.1. Both when I was 16... Now I just run distance.
56.8
2:08
I sucked at sustaining speed.

I have never broken 55 for 400, but have run 1:58 for 800. That means I can run 59 twice, but have never run one lap in under 55. I feel that this is atypical. Why might this be? And does anyone else have a similar set of PRs?
Actually your times are in line with the formula: 400 time plus 4 sec x 2 for 800. My 400 is 56, add 4, equals 60 for a 2:00 800. Only ran a few 800s but the formula usually works adding 4sec each move up. 56-400 60 pace for 800, 64 for 1,500, 68 for 3,000 ( done 69s), 72 for 5,000, 76 for 10,000 (done 74).
50 flat split
204
got worse at 8 senior year
55.11 and 2:00.9
toro,
My 400 and 800 PR's from high school all the way through your 1:53 as a college soph are almost identical to yours. However, I am curious about your training as I split 48 as a senior in the 400 as well but could never break 1:52 for 800
51 in practice for 3x400 workout. 154 for a race. prob in 152-152 shape but did not run a ton of them as i moved more toward the 5k
in my youth i ran just sub 56/400 at the first attempt without any real sprint training nor a good training schedule (while running just distance by feel) and a 2:06/800 alone (time trial). all my real distance PRs (5k, 10k) suck.
tell me: should i stick to the middle distances? i am 44 years old now and try to come back.

45.24 vs 1.56.82 (only done 3 800s)
I've got too much fast twitch for 800m
like to get below 45 for 400m for next year
Don't want to reveal too much info incase you know who I am.
46.6 1:47.1
Won't say who I am. People say I should have been quicker over the 800 as I could beat (and did) some world class 800 and 1500 guys over 1 lap (and I would bet they were exaggerating their 400 PRs). But I was lousy at the 1500/mile, so I think my particular "make up" was maximized.

I just got stronger. I also started running the 1500 which I then focused on after college.
Jr year of college was my first ever year of cross country.
It also helps when you are training with guys that are running 1:47 and you just keep doing what you can to keep up in practice.
HS, 56 for 400 m
2:05 for 800 m
Age 25, 4:18 for 1500 m. was marathoning then, just entered track meet
