You certainly have a chance at running sub-3 given your newness to running.
However, given your proven level of stupidity, (sorry have to keep your attention) I don't think you should even try to break 3. So much can go wrong DURING a marathon and you don't have the knowledge to figure it out on the fly under the stress of marathon effort.
You need everything to go right to approach 3 and that is very unlikely to happen. So listen to your coach in training and run the first 1-2 miles at about 1:40 1/2 pace. Then pick it up to hit the half in 1:35.
When you don't really follow these instructions and get to the 1/2 at 1:30, because learning to pace in a marathon is very difficult, you will still be able to pull out a 3:05. If, by a miracle, you do make it to the half in 1:35 you should still have a shot at 3:05.
