The other reason why F(ield) at CG is a minor event is that the only people who really care about F(ield) are Europeans. Nobody here in continental Europe knows that there are some Commonwealth games.
FTFY idiot
the vast majority of Europe gave up on the track because of their clear racial views. Its clear they try whatever they can to ensure there is a white winner in every event, then cut down funding the moment their own are no longer dominating. It became evident in the late 1990s and early 2000s when Kenya/Ethiopia were rightfully dominating the distances and Jamacia/USA were dominating the sprints. Since then, the only noticeable change is that the USA are starting to show up again the distance events.
At least with Track at the CG's, Kenya are still sending very good teams on a consistent basis and some of the other decent countries are also sending good teams as well. European Championships are laughable because everyone knows that even with them sending their A teams, the winners typically are not world class. If they happen to be world class, they are most likely imported from Africa.
The ONLY sport where people actually give a damn about the European Championships is Soccer (Football).
