If you don't want to read the article I've summarized it for you
"People inside the University of Oregon track and field program are not so privately fuming because for once a governing body didn't give in to their intimidation tactics and hissy fits".

Isn't it IAAF and not USATF that stood up to Nike/Oregon?
World Juniors is not a USATF meet. IAAF is also sponsored by adidas
"The IAAF World Junior Championships began on Monday in Eugene, Ore., the birthplace of Nike, Inc. If you've ever been to Eugene, you know that the only thing more conspicuous than green and gold is the superfluity of swooshes. But not this week.
The Register-Guard reports that all around Hayward Field—the same track where Nike cofounder Bill Bowerman coached and brand ambassador Steve Prefontaine ran—swooshes have been painted over, covered up, or taken down.
"All of the official IAAF partners have certain categories and rights, and Adidas happens to be one of them," said Vin Lananna, the president TrackTown USA, which lobbied to bring in World Juniors. "Providing a clean venue is a standard policy for major sports events."

Ken Goe is not on the Nike payroll.
He may not be on the nike payroll but he is a complete shill for Oregon and doesn't even attempt to appear to have an ounce of integrity or objectivity. His articles and subsequent replies to them in the comments section before and during the NCAA meet proved that without a shadow of a doubt
Again; crybaby oregon. The cheating just never stops there.

Will runners start to practice diving in training like some soccer players reputedly do.

Typical Oregon - devoid of class. What else would you expect from a program that holds a terrible human being like Alberto up on a pedestal?
B.S., Goe isn't a friend or foe to UO, he's an excellent track and field reporter, something this sport desparately needs. A lot of UO fans don't like him because he calls them out when the university and/or athletic department screws up.
Just more typical cheating at Oregon
"Oregon Ducks Don't Deny the Drug Culture in the Athletic Department"
The Oregon Ducks' alleged widespread use of illegal drugs was detailed in a recent ESPN article.
And considering the program is already under investigation by the NCAA for allegedly paying for third party scouting services, the article, and all the questions that come along with it, couldn't have come at a worse time for the Ducks.
ESPN spoke with 190 former and current athletes during their investigation, and it was the general consensus that as many as 70-80 percent of the athletes used illegal and performance enhancing drugs at some point during their college careers.
"Athlete Arrests Cast Negative Light On Oregon"
Just a few months ago, Oregon coach Chip Kelly was being lauded for an improbable debut season, resurrecting a team that suffered an opening-week meltdown at Boise State and leading the Ducks to their first Rose Bowl in 15 years. Now, he and his program are back to being lightning-rods for national scorn amid a string of embarrassing headlines involving his players.
Oh please. You posters are so jealous of Oregon that now you have to attack a newspaper reporter? Demonstrates just how childish some of you posters are.

Are you really deluded enough to not believe there are legitimate reasons to dislike Oregon besides jealousy?
Crybaby oregon
They're named "Oregon Juice", "Centro Sauce" and "NOPe Dope" for a reason.

Used to run as well. 800m. In a championship race got tripped on the first lap in a similar fashion by a runner behind me. After almost falling quickly accelerated and got separation from those behind me. Never in the years since have I thought a protest would have bailed me out had I not gone on to win, or had I fallen. In a race there is inadvertent contact, and all race participants know that they can avoid this by running out in front far enough that there is no contact from behind, or running on the outside shoulder. It isn't good for the sport when organizations try to exert influence for things better left to the athletes on the track.

No the delusionals are the one who take every opportunity to try to bash Oregon, Nike, NOP (I'm not complaining - I think it's great to be the best and always be attacked from the losers below rationalizing their lowly place with excuses that the "cheaters" beat me. Losers sniping and making excuses will remain losers).
So the OP is about USATF not protesting, and now it's a general rant about college kids smoking weed (that only happens at Oregon for sure), a sports columnist who is supportive of home team & local company (again, even assuming it's true, that certainly is unique to Oregon), moronic "nopers are dopers"/Salazar is sleazy, etc (the typical LRC drivel against Nike)...so back to the OP, let's hear valid points of view on whether the USATF should have filed a protest and let the officials determine the outcome - the worst outcome which would have been protest denied, the best another chance for a USA athlete.

Pot meet kettle?!!?
The f'ing whiners whining on these MBs are largely whining against Oregon, Nike, NOP and anything they can conceivably/delusionally assoicate with Oregon/Nike/NOP.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
