Two questions.
1) What are the odds that Cain ever does what Wilson did today?
2) When is the last time an American won a DL event in a world leading time? (Ignoring Coburn if she did it)
Wilson won and had to run fast to do so. I think that's the point when you line up; win. Sometimes that means you have to run fast. She's clearly capable of doing so.
I don't think enough Americans actually expect or intend to win when they race. I find that "truly amazing".
Will Cain ever win a DL and have to run a WL time to do so? Yeah, she probably will if she races enough over the next 5 years. If Al Sal protects her too much and only lets her race a few times per season when he thinks she's super fit, then no, I'd say probably not.
