I'm not trying to be a hater and know the US is full of Cain fans.
But we must not take for granted what Wilson did. Truly amazing. World leading victory.
After it was over, i though to myself, "Track is obsessed with the future. I bet Mary cain never does that in her life."
Two questions.
1) What are the odds that Cain ever does what Wilson did today?
2) When is the last time an American won a DL event in a world leading time? (Ignoring Coburn if she did it)
Mary Cain fans, serious question. Do you think she'll ever do what Ajee Wilson did today? Win a DL in a WL time?

And why do you feel the need to compare Wilson's performance with Cain in the first place?
-
I'd say they're equal talents, but the 1500/mile is enough distance for the east african and drugged Moroccan talent to get separation. Great run for Ajee though!

1. Who's to say?
2. Tori Bowie won the 100 like an hour earlier in a world leading time. -

Did you already forget what Galen did in Eugene a month ago? -
Sure, why not? Never underestimate the NOPe dope, centro sauce and oregon juice.

OK. The rest of your post was pure blah blah. Bet you knew that already. -
Mary Cain made the final and came in 10th at the World Championships last year. She was 17. Yes, it is possible she will one day win a Diamond League event in a world leading time.

1) Pretty high. She's an incredible talent so why not?
2) Alysia Montano at this very meet in the 800 back in 2010 - won the race by a huge margin in 1:57.3, had the DL points lead and set world lead (so that one-ups Wilson who does not have the DL lead - Sum does).
Also for #2 since you didn't specify distance: Today - Torie Bowie 100M, Justin Gatlin 200M; recently - Galen Rupp 10K in Eugene (though I guess not technically a DL event even though at a DL meet).
I'm sure there are many others, though probably far fewer above 400M.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but pretty sure there are no DL 10,000 races. -
The 10k was on Friday night, not part of the DL Eugene.
-
As I said in another thread, it could be that these ladies are lucky Cain is not focused on the 800. Compare the ages and times run at each age...
-
What's Cain done this year anyways?
Nothing memorable and no PRs is the correct answer.
At her age she should be PRing just by waking up and eating fruit loops. -
If you haven't seen the women's 100m, it's worth watching. Bowie just scorched the field on the last 40 meters.

I guess you better call the Diamond League guys because they have the 10k included in their meet...

Eugene is a two day diamond league meet just like Glasgow last week. -
Yeah, Don Kardong used to train on Fruit Loops, and he almost medaled in the marathon...

Wasn't she a close second to 3:57 runner Jenny Simpson at Nationals? -
She was second, but not that close. Still Cain could probably run 4:00-4:02 this year.

Not so long as the dirty Turkish runners are still competing

Assuming she's not so clumsy and doesn't trip over her large clown shoes...

Check out the IAAF top list for the women's 1500m in 2011. If, say, 2017 plays out like that, there's every chance Cain wins a DL meet in a WL time the same way Uceny did in 2011. Conversely, if there's some gal consistently running 1:54.xx - 1:55 flat the way Jelimo was a few years ago, there's every chance Ajee doesn't win a thing on the DL circuit in a given year.
