I'm gonna guess that it had at least something to do with it.....or it could have been the cocaine.
Why not just wait for the complete autopsy report?
Caminiti had a history of alcohol and cocaine use as well.
I am sure steroids didnt help the cause. It sucks that he is dead but he totally brought this upon himself.

Ken used cocaine. Cocaine favors early after depolarizations (EADs) in phase 2 of the cardiac action potential by increasing the calcium current into the cell.
This favors a ventricular tachycardia and (can) lead to death.

I agree. The cocaine did him in.
can you elaborate on the calcium bit there? i.e. what do you mean by "the cell"
and if this is the case:
coke plus -> calcium plus -> EAD's -> tachycardia -> death
then is there a way to prevent the calcium overload before it happens? (aside from snorting enough blow to kill a horse, obviously).
my idea would be that years of alcohol, coke, and steroid abuse weakened caminiti's heart to the point that a line or two that a "normal" 41 year old reasonably athletic male could "handle" (same with the younger pantani), but i don't know what it means to have a "weaker" heart, physiologically, esp given the role of calcium.
insert "did him in" before the pantani parens
My gut says he overdosed on coke. It is true that HGH usage contributes to enlargement of the heart and steroid abuse leads to low HDL levels, but with all the stuff he abused who can really say. I'll wait until the autopsy results to come out to pass further judgment (not that they always come up with a definitive cause, ala Flo Ja).
