I wanted to start this thread to get some advice on how to train and compete while having a full time job. I ran solid times 800-5k in college and wanted to compete next outdoor season again because I feel I still have fast times in my legs. I work at a large corporate and my schedule isnt that crazy. Usually 9 hours a day. Keep in my I also want to have some sort of social life. In college I topped out in the mid 80's for mileage.
So I was thinking of training for 800-1mile specifically and hoping not to go over 70 miles a week in singles. Now comparing this to my other training when I was in the mid 80s, should I do the 70 miles or less weeks faster. Almost more like a Bernard Lagat style training program. I will probably do more base during the winter to get ready for a lot of speed outdoor. Any suggestions or has anyone had a similar experience. Trying to remain relevant here in running haha!!
