Hasay finishes dead last in a race and these boards can't stop congratulating her. Did anyone touch her during the race? Imagine the outrage if anyone did.

Ummm, ever hear of Jordan Hasay?
I seriously doubt that she is "a brand" in the UK. Just because she was well-known in American hs circles doesn't mean much. #4 athlete in the world for 10k in 2014?? Don't pretend that she is anywhere near as good as that. Rankings like that mean nothing without any high level 10k's being contested on the circuit. She's a good U.S. level distance runner who lacks the speed to win championships against decent American competition.
I don't care at all what company they run for. Where does 4:10 rank? Or for that matter, 4:07? There are two American high schoolers alone with times equal or better.
thank you for being you Jordan wrote:

And that's why you're a moron.
What does the race she competed in or place have to do with whether she should be congratulated? Nothing. The performance itself is what matters.
Turn the distance around and ask how many ladies in this race could have kept up with Hasay in a 10K? Seriously, the most likely answer is probably NONE. Hasay is a long distance runner yet is proving she can hang with middle distance runners with yet another PR.

Hasay finished last, dude. She was not competitive.
If you want to give her a ribbon for just showing up or take her to Chucky Cheeses afterward, that is your prerogative.
Fantastic result for Hasay.
Looking forward to her races in the longer distances.
Lots of jealous runners on this board. Ya think?
I mean, it's great that she PR'd. But what place did she get in the race? Was she really last?

Geofrey Barusei (KEN) did not finish the 5000m? Should he have been in this Diamond League race? Ross Millington (GBR) got dead last. Yohan Blake DNF'd.
Here's the thing, Jordan Hasay was competitive. She almost beat Zoe Buckman, a 1500m specialist. She ran within 2 seconds of MORGAN UCENY over Uceny's specialty. She was within 2 seconds of Hellen Obiri. This is the equivalent of Rupp racing the 1500m and getting last. No big deal. Manzano has gotten last in a DL race, so has Will Leer.

Now that's impressive.

that sucks
4:07 is good, remember she is a 5/10k runner, to put her time into perspective for 5/10 runners, worknesh kidane also a 5/10k runner has a 1500 best of 4:15, so 8 seconds SLOWER than hasay, yet kidane has run 5k in 14:33 and 10k in 30:07 which are much faster than the current american records at 5k (14:44) and 10k (30:07), so now all hasay has to do is get her endurance at kidanes level, and the fact that hasay is much faster than kidane, hasay will almost certainly run under 14:20 for 5000 and under 29:40 for 10k.
i love kidane, but the fact that hasay is 8 seconds faster at 1500 she will undoubtably be faster at anything up to 10k.
3 second PR to finish 13th??????
Under 14:20 and 29:40?

Alexa Ephraimson has run 4:07 as a junior in high school.
Mr. Burke, by your reasoning Ephraimson should be running 13:20 5 K's and 28:40 10 K's in the near future.
Ephraimson and Cranny are huge talents and I'm sure they are looking forward to scorching Hasay in the last 400 meters of major races for the next dozen years at least.
I am looking forward to it too.
Kudos to Jordan for the PR and for not getting lapped.[/quote]
I see what you did there. She's a very pretty girl and I'm glad she was in the race. It takes guts to get in a race when you know the safety vehicle is right on your tail.
ephraimson is NOT a 5/10k runner.
here is another example
meselesh melkamu
best times
1500-4:07.52 (same as hasay)
5k-14:31
10k-29:53
anyway hasay just started doing 10k's last year so her endurance is not up to a prime kidane or melkamu yet.
heck meseret defar best at 1500 is only 4:02 and defar has run 14:12 for 5000.
