no it's not...
I cringe when I hear my fellow white Americans talk about their ____ ancestry.
My rule of thumb is that unless you have a living relative, (usually a parent or grandparent) that came over from whatever country and has an accent- you are just an American.
Do try to claim you're Scottish, or English, or Irish. It's just sad.

how DARE you say that.... no self respecting gay man would be caught dead in those outfits! They're effing hideous! It's like something from the Golden Girls
the Scots are worse than the French. Iran and North Korea should NUKE SCOTLAND to get rid of the stench and filth.

Both his parents are 1/3 Scottish.
Love the steampunkt hat and the Martha Stewart color shades of the skirts. Those shame the nation. I would be sick opening night versus wearing those costumes.

Maybe, but maybe not. Some families hold onto cultural norms for several generations, including religion. I know some Irish-Americans who look Irish and structure their lives around the Catholic church. True, they grew up in America and are, undeniably, American. But it's clear that their appearance and religious practices came from Ireland.
Also, the category "white" is relatively recent. True, being white confers many privileges in America, but it is not a monolithic category in which all traces of peoples' roots are erased.
There's a difference between dressing in green and getting trashed on March 17th to express your Irish identity and doing things like attending all Catholic schools, sending your children to those schools, being against contraception, etc.
the chick in the steampunkt hat is the designer. A cross between Willy Wonka and someone who got dressed in the dark

I am Scottish.
As far as i know Scotland isn´t one independent country. As far as i know we have a few parts of independent countries with legal autonomy as Scotland does, but they can´t have a separate team to compete out of the country they belong. Scotland does. They did the olympics as Scotland, they are Scotland in European and World soccer/football championships, as well as they have one football league.
Why they permit that Scotalnd comepte out of UK ? For the same kind of reason ech state From teh US might compete in the olympics as Scotland does in the Commonwealth Games.
The day Scotland would be independent, and if that happens that ok, until then, the issue isn´t if the Scotland vests/uniforms are horrific or don´t.
the issue is to take Scotland out of competions that the universe of participants are independent countries as for instance Kenya, Australia or Jaimaica they are.
The designer was attempting to hit an artistic home run, but probably should have played it safe and settled for getting on base. Btw, the uniforms are neither horrific or humiliating, they are more like costumes that show nationalist pride and that how they have to be viewed. Chances are the athletes will only wear them once or twice and only for a couple of hours each time.
uniforms are hideous
I get the whole cultural pride thing, but if I were a runner from Scotland I'd be pissed at having to wear a f*ckin kilt when runners from Team USA and other nations actually get cool stuff.

Is there any kind of skirt that looks masculine?
Wasn't the kilt originally created by the English in order to further humiliate the conquered Scots? Kind of like how we make our criminals wear oversized jumpsuits with unflatteting horizontal strips?
...an awkward effort to obliterate any vestige of Traditional, historical Scottish 'William Wallace' masculinity.
I think the Scottish uniforms are horrific and disgusting.
but Scotland is a horrific and disgusting place.
I only say this based on my experience with my Scottish mates.
Seriously, they are a cute disaster. I'll buy one.

No, it has Norse origins.
If you think about the artistic talent available in Scotland, it would be virtually impossible to come up with anything better.
