I have never been a big guy, but in college I barely ever ran and lifted several days a week. The biggest I ever got was about 155lbs at just over 6ft. I was lean, but could bench my weight nearly 20 times.
Then after college I got into running and hit the gym less. I started off as your average hobby jogger but faster than most simply due to my body type and slightly athletic background. Over 5 years of solo training I went from a 45 min 10k to a 36 min 10k. Then I went on to the marathon and my speed has not really improved. I did lose weight as my lifting basically ceased. I got down to 138 or so at my lowest, which I was fine with as long as I was super lean.
Fast forward a few more years, more stress at work, drinking more often, kids, working spouse, I'm back up to nearly 155. Except now I can bench my weight once, maybe twice. Yes, I'm now skinny fat.
I'm really just posting this to vent and get back down to at least 142, beat my times from a few years ago. I need to stop drinking, increase my mileage and speed work, and even hit the gym more than once per week. Not all easy in the second half of my thirties. So feel free to encourage, ignore, or even ridicule my skinny fat self. I need to turn this around before I get plain old fat.
I'm going to post my weight and mileage each week until I hit my goal.
Current weight: 152lbs.
Prior week mileage: 27
Prior week beer total: 24
