I'm running 65 mpw and will move up to 90 by the end of the summer, but I eat AT LEAST a pint of ice cream a night. Does this have a negative effect on training/long term performance?

I would think the sugar would have a negative effect on your energy level? Have you tried to go a few days without ice cream to see if you feel better? That being said, the younger you are, the more you can get away with stuff like that...
Same here. I have personally not seen a negative effect on my running. I eat healthy the rest of the day and run a lot, so figure its okay. I try to eat light versions since the saturated fat content may not be the best with regular ice cream.
I just eat the ice cream, read then go to bed, so I'm not really sure if it effects my energy levels...

If you are trying to build up mileage you should probably just try to avoid any of the mental stress of trying to moderate your diet to any great extent. you might want to add protein, fruit and nuts to the ice cream, limit yourself to low fat or lower sugar, or add some complex carbs to your binge so that you have less of a sugar rush?
when i was running a lot of miles (for me) and doing hard workouts and trying to limit my diet, i was hungry all the time and would always end up running around looking for food.
Any advice I would give would come across totally wrong because I am incredibly jealous.
