to pay for a jersey to support your team & wear to games is different to pay for a jersey to wear while you compete (and let others know who you are representing).

Imagine seeing someone wearing a Lebron James jersey. That would be so weird.

Looks like the folks at GOMI got the inside scoop.
The info that went out from Oiselle is below. FWIW, the "flock" is not replacing their Volee (ambassador) team, it seems to be a "feeder" team, in that after two years, you become eligible for volee. That in of itself is strange, in that you don't need special skills to be a volee member, you just need a social media presence and a belief that your selfies are valuable...
THE FLOCK:
Enthusiastic women who want to be part of the movement.
One-year membership fee of $100
Benefits for the Flock
1. Membership includes race kit and other benefits, a ~$150 value.
Your welcome kit will include a newly designed race singlet, a spike bag, and a $20 online code toward a purchase of shorts. In addition, since one of our top missions is to help support emerging elite athletes, $25 of the membership fee will go directly into Oiselle’s Emerging Athlete Fund to help Haute Volée members mitigate the high costs of travel to key meets and races.
2. Haute Volée fan cards to be released throughout the year
3. Open invitation to all local events and meetups
4. Invitation to participate in Haute Volée Google hangouts
5. Free shipping all year
6. Exclusive Holiday Sale
7. Discounts on special offerings
8. New product alerts from oiselle.com: including 24-hour pre-shop window.
9. If interested, eligibility to become Volée in year two of membership
Expectations:
Take your athletic lifestyle seriously and actively participate in the growing Oiselle community in ways that are positive and authentic. Have an affinity for the Oiselle Manifesto and brand.
I don't really understand the value here -- you're getting a singlet that (I'm sure) will be different from the actual team members, you don't get any training tips or "team" coaching/benefits like a normal running club, and you're paying $100 for what? A singlet? There's not even a discount attached. And they're still asking you to talk Oiselle up on social media... This is basically just a bake sale -- I wish they would say as much.
