I was just wondering if it was a smart idea to drop down to the 400m for a year before my senior year. This would be for my 800m training, to get my 400m time down for the 800m.

What are your current 400 and 800 times and do you have any 400 splits for your 800 races?
What sports/events do you do during the rest of the year?
During a well coached season of 800 running, you should run a couple open 400s and many 4 x 400m relay legs.
My PB's are 2:15 for the 800m 57.8 for the 400m and for the 1500m 4:48 i am a sophomore in high school
And i do cross-country, ultimate frisbee, badminton, and track
better work on your handling skills in frisbee
as far as 400 vs 800 there is alot of carryover between the two so i wouldn't worry about it too much. more to the point you should work on improving basic speed over 200m and endurance in XC.
I would drop down. Stay in shape all year round. Your times are pretty slow. Concentrate on school/career.
Work more on your endurance. If you were at 2:01-2:04 and trying to go sub 2:00 with a 57.8 400 then it might be a good idea to drop down and improve speed, but you should be able to run at least 2:05-2:10 with the speed you already have and better endurance.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
