I am a coach at good quality club. I have a new runner who joined 3weeks ago and he looks promising. He started running 11 months ago and his first 10k was 54 mins. He ran a 10k two months ago and finished in 38.45 and he ran a half a month ago in 1.25. He is 24, I clocked him over 100m and 400m. His 100m time was 11.8 and 400m was 61. He is an ex pack a day smoker for the last month.
He is a pure ecto and has incredible speed. He runs 20mpw and have I believe him to be a huge talent. It is hard to get him out training but when he does train, he is a beast. I know he will not become an elite because of his age but I believe he could become a top club runner. I have never been in a position with an athlete running times like his where I believe he has the ability to run very quick.
Is he an example of a late coming raw talent?
How do I deal with a runner like this?
