He makes like 98k. He was getting paid considering the cost of living in indiana
Good. Michigan and MSU should follow suit
Mark my word........the next sprint/hurdle coach at IU Wil be...........from The Ohio State University......Ed Betha.
Why would the head coach at OSU leave to become an assistant at IU?
I too have heard the OSU head coach is getting the job. The distance assistant should attract some top coaching talent as well.

Indiana did win Big Ten XC last year. That has to shut up some of the IU criticizers out there.
Except that Big Ten distance running is the weakest it's been in a very long time.
I just can't see why Ed would want to go back to being an assistant at IU. They have a pretty solid squad at Ohio State.
IU needed this. their non-distance recruiting has been subpar to say the least... also only had 3 male seniors on a team of almost 50
According to TFRRS, this past year the mens team had:
0 shot putters who weren't multi guys
2 sprinters under 11.0 for 100m/22.0 for 200m
1 400m guy running 47-48 (best 4x4 was 3:14)
1 long jumper over 23 feet (and only non-multi LJ/TJ guy)
1 non-multi HJ guy (6'6)
1 sprint hurdler under 15.0 (14.9)
seriously depleted non-distance group for a Big 10 team
Would be paid more to be assistant at IU then he makes as head at Ohio State.
Ohio State only cares about football and basketball and if you're not a national champion, you're forgotten about.
Would bet IU has a track, xc budget that is twice as much as OSU.
Misses being an assistant? Nothing wrong with that.
Family closer.
Miss old friends.
Ed is originally from Indiana. He has recruited the state very well in the past something IU has struggled with in recent years. His strengths are current weaknesses at IU. With all this being said, Ohio State has a strong team with another solid recruiting class coming in. Interesting rumors but no validity to these rumors.
Maybe OSU will pay Ed to stay. And give his assistants a raise
To the poster who decided to discount IU's B1G Title in cross, the same team placed top10 at nats and returns all of its scorers in that meet. Must be because NCAA distance running is the weakest it's been in a very long time.. Smh
