I haven't run in about two years. Before that I have a long history of hardcore training. Always have a hard time starting up from a motivational standpoint. But I also have an issue with keeping things in moderation. I used to run heavy mileage like some of you do. Race bests are above average but not OTC. I don't want to race anymore though.
Last time I started training it was awful for about five days but then, metaphorically speaking, the eye of the tiger music started to play in my head. Two and a half months later I was exploring MPW north of 75 again and doing a bunch of cross training. It is not exactly OCD but I have a competitive trigger in me that doesn't want to stop.
How do I get motivated and stay motivated but at the same time keep things tame ?
