I am doing a 12-hour ultra this coming weekend. It will be on a 1-mile dirt oval track with no hills. My marathon PR is 2:38:23 and I am in pretty close to that shape right now.
Obviously I can't hold MP for that long, but I should be able to crush any of the "ultrarunners" who are used to just doing slow jog/walk to the next food station.
I plan to do the event as a series of 5-mile sets at a very easy 7:15-ish pace with 10-minute rests between. I'll do a gel every set and real food every 5 sets. This should get me solidly over 75 miles for the 12 hours. What sayeth the Letsrun hive mind? okay or too slow?
