Where is the interview at? Do you have a link?

[it's linked on the T&FN site.] USATF is just hopeless.
I've never been a big Will Leer fan but I'm more of one now. I think the big question is whether active athletes who are likely to make the 2015 team for worlds get to the point of boycotting 2015 nationals. Short of that, the athletes can complain all they want, but I don't see anything changing.
The list of Owens award recipients is a list of who is who in doping:
Is he the guy pretending to look and act like Steve Prefontaine?

Upon what basis can you claim that Ashton Eaton, Bryan Clay, Allyson Felix, or Sanya Richards-Ross are dopers?

I see your point, but at a quick glance I'm not noticing anyone other than L Merritt who was given the award AFTER serving a doping suspension.

Yes.

1) I'm glad Leer is asking questions. I've always said once the atheltes become fed up with drugs, then serious change will occur.
2) I have no problem with Merritt getting the award. He did his time (which was actually reduced as he had an 'excuse').
3) I do have a problem with USATF being defensive about it. They shouldn't be defensive about drug cheats. It's part of the sport. Either get rid of them, don't honor them or expect some bad PR. You can't try to ignore the problem was the case up through Regina Jacobs.
4) Jon Dummond being involved is pretty ironic given Tyson Gay's testimony.
5) I hope Leer continues to ask simlar questions. I hope some of them are directed to his employer Nike. If Nike had the same attitude towards PEDs that Leer did, that they are totally unacceptable, this sport would be a WHOLE LOT cleaner. Instead people who come back from bans are

PS. I didn't like the Arod analogy. If AROD put up huge numbers, he'd get the MVP. He won't get it as he sucks now. Now, he likely will not get into the Hall of Fame which is another story. Hence point #2.
For all Leer's b!tching. Still cashes the check from Nike. Still wears the nike uni. still hasn't come clean about his past.
In short a washed up hypocrite
Washed up? You sure about that?
I am starting to think there is a massive racial division at USATF - a divergent worldview between the black sprinters and leadership and the white distance runners.

Hate to say it, but listening to Leer's actual interview gave me a similar impression. The divide may have more to do with a doping divide between US sprinters and US mid-d / distance runners, but however you slice it, some kind of divide very much seems to exist.
And prior to hearing Leer's comments about this issue, I too saw him as a somewhat self-aggrandizing 2nd-tier athlete. I now see him in a more positive light.
Apparently 3:52 mile is "second tier" on LRC

1st tier is an olympic or wc team. WL h
Hasn't come clean about his past?? Please explain what you are insinuating by that.
Also, I have never known Will Leer to duck talent. And having met him, he is an incredibly classy guy who is one of the few trying to create positive change in an organization that is so incredibly flawed, it has yet to explain what it's own DQ policies were 3 months ago at indoor nats. Good for him and it's too bad dozens others, like yourselves, are not lining up behind him.
as Rojo said, these are questions to which USATF ignores or refuses to provide an answer.

Baseball did have an issue with Ryan Braun who was awarded the NL MVP in 2011.
He had a positive testosterone test late that year.
There was discussions of revoking the award and he was facing a 50 game suspension going into 2012.
He fought the suspension on a technicality and kept the award.
He then was suspended for the last 65 games of last year's season as a drug issue came up again.
