It would have to be an extremely small dose.
It's a stimulant. It will cause vasoconstriction, increased resting heart rate, decreased heart rate reserve, increased blood pressure, increased urination, and a host of other things that are not good performance.
Potential is there to increase performance if used away from a race and it helps with long-term kinesthetic awareness, but otherwise no, it's not performance enhancing otherwise top pros would be doing this before big races.
first time I took shrooms I hid in my dorm room closet for about 3 hours eating donuts before falling asleep in there
I've run a hilly 5mi. on acid. I couldn't quite justify the discomfort I was subjecting myself to...it confused me. I don't think you would be able to maintain a competitive focus on even a moderate dose. The only way it might serve as a performance enhancer is very light dose + ADHD med, I think, but you're still probably better with just 2 cups of coffee.
no way i'd want to do this, at least on the stuff i've tried. i get a feeling very similar to rolling on molly in the midst of some of my really good runs when i have music in, everything starts to blend together a bit. i don't think that needs enhancement and i don't think i'd want to run the risk of straining my body with a hard run and a foreign substance at the same time.

Psychedelics are not stimulants, nor are they have similar affects on the body as one. You can try to sound smart but you haven't the slightest idea of what your talking about
Also I highly doubt many, if any pros, have experimented with psychedelics and racing and would have no idea if they would be performance enhancing or not
I'm going to have to experiment myself to answer my question
It's not a stimulant, but yes many times it does cause increased heart rate. It depends what you're doing (plant or non-plant psychedelic). Also I've been really focused and gotten into a deep state or relaxation on high doses, but this only after years of experience and getting deep into my yoga practice. That relaxation would transfer to running if it was undertaken. As far as the top pros taking this stuff, plant medicine is a huge secret that is finally coming to the forefront in our society. Plants such as ayahuasca have caused immense interesting in healing. I have to attribute by back's healing to plant medicine.
Thank you all for writing on this thread. One of/ if not the most important topic (plant medicine) in all the world.
A potential catalyst for planetary healing.
PEOPLE IF YOU WERE REALLY TRIPPING DURING A RACE...
Would you not question the race and walk to the finish!
Not the slightest idea huh? You don't know who I am, but trust me Terence, I've turned on, tuned in and dropped out enough times to be confident of the physiological effects on the vascular system that most entheogens/psychedelics have.
Psychedelics aren't classified as stimulants, but they still have that effect on the body.
Your head is in the sand if you think top athletes and scientists haven't experimented with recreational/spiritual substances extensively over the past .
Go ahead, experiment all you want to, but it's nothing that hasn't been tried countless times before. Increased concentration, perception and kinesthetic awareness may be great for some activities, like pitching a no hitter for instance, but not for endurance sport.
You really think the East Germans would have hesitated for one second to dose their athletes with psychedelics during competition if it were performance enhancing? Get real.
Indirectly it could be performance enhancing for an endurance athlete via lasting psychological and mind-body connection breakthroughs, but not while the substance is still in the body.
Running sounds like a bad idea. Pitching in a major league game . . . see the Doc Ellis story:http://deadspin.com/5819880/the-long-strange-trip-of-the-dock-ellis-lsd-no-hitter-story
i'll do it this weekend if I can find a race - will report back with details!

psychadellics and if you have it was for sure dmt or pcp, I myself have ran track practice while tripping (cid) 3 times. You get worried you will run too hard and go into cardiac arrest because your totally numb and pushing really hard, but otherwise I think this is something that should be explored it is quite likely they will increase perfomance.
btw, i was fine and feeling better after SPRINT TRAINING while tripping.
Agree with the stimulant people (purely secondhand). When you have all these thoughts so close together, that’s the adrenaline firing many neurons at once.
