Wondering if anyone has or knows of someone who has dealt with Ménière's disease before and if it is ok to continue running?

Been plagued by it for 15 years. Basically ruined a life. When doctors can't find anything they just prescribe this and that and NOTHING really works for too long. Be prepared for your "times" to tank, and NEVER recover, even if you get off your medication right before a race hoping that will help your time, because the medication just deadens motivation, brain waves, ability to push.
Can you run? Yes. I even ran on a treadmill, just staring at a big black trash bad underneath a television to balance myself at times. Doesn't sound safe I know, but doing ANY thing, walking, driving, etc, was just as much as a risk and I wasn't going to give up life for it, I just accepted the risk and am living with it. I don't wish that misery on ANY body.
Have had condition since 2004. Best thing is reducing your salt intake as much as possible. Also try and reduce levels of stress. I have not had an episode in more than 5 years. Lost most of my hearing in one ear while under the care of emergency room staff when I had an episode while driving. Not nice. The medication Meclizine (sp) is not nice as it makes you very tired.
