Perhaps, though she probably could get a bigger appearance fee from New York and it's fairly late as a fall marathon. From the Q&A linked above, it sounds like they are at least looking at fall 2014 races. LA would give her some experience on the course prior to the trials for what that's worth. This result from the NY Half gives her a B qualifier (under 1:15) for the Olympic Trials so she doesn't strictly need another one.
She definitely should get paid for her first marathon, she shouldn't let the USATF have her for free. But the marathon course wouldn't be the same as the trials course, would it? I hope LA comes up with a crit course as NYC, Boston and Houston have done.
