Neither Mutai nor Farah breaks 60. Nobody breaks 60 when they're in marathon mode. Someone else wins in 59:47.
Mutai 60:34
Farah 60:37
Mutai all day

That's quite slow.
Mutai was to run London 2 months later.....he ran 58:58
The time depends on the weather. Perfect weather I'd say 5855-5920 for both Mutai and Farah. As is, I expect 6030-6130 winning time.
Mutai is king of the marathon, he wins unless he leaves it too late. I expect the gap to be less than 10 seconds at the finish with Farah gaining late.

IF G Mutai is fully fit, I think he'll drop Mo somewhere around mile 10 and win sub 60. If the winning time is over 60, my money is on Mo. [I don't think there's a "someone else" in the field who can break 60, with the possible exception of Wesley Korir."
Sambu

It would be really cool to see Sambu win. He donates prize winnings towards getting purified water in his home town in Kenya. Always gotta root for a good cause.
But he won't win
4 days out!! Pumped to watch this race.
i will guess Farah in a last sprint. Both will barely run under 60 minutes.
what channels woud this be on

I'd like to +1 this.
Mutai better not leave it to a sprint finish. Anyone remember how well that worked out a couple years back when he twice finished behind Makau after being right there?
I plan on dropping mo in the early stages of the race. I will also break the CR geb set. Mo farah has no chance.

I like it. Go G Mutai - dust Mo! Seriously, if G Mutai is in the kind of shape he was coming into the 2011 NYC Marathon, it won't be close. That performance was ridiculous - not just the time, but the way he looked ready to do a nice 10k cool down right after he crossed the line. NYC 2013 was impressive too, but not quite as dominant and he didn't make it look quite as easy. [obviously the conditions played a part as well.]
LOL its really funny how people here on LRC always underestimate Mo Farah esp before races , always talking about if athletes on the race go fast and hard MO Farah has no chance of hanging on let alone winning the race , its quite hilarious actually lmao
When I win, i hope i dont get Dq'd. NOP are known to be sore losers.

No one is underestimating Farah. It is actually true that if they would push the pace, then he would have no chance at winning. Did you not see how easily Bekele beat him in the half marathon?
Mutai wins with almost a minute.
