I have been haunted by this for years, and always forgot to ask the LRC nation about it, until today.
About 12 years ago, some college running buddies and I went to an early season all-comers track meet at Long Beach State, in Long Beach, CA. It was Feb or March.
We wanted a race to break up the monotony of hard winter base training, so we entered the mile, figuring the three of us would go 1-2-3 and get a nice rust-buster.
When it's time to line up, a half-asian-looking guy who appeared to be in his mid-twenties takes off his warm-ups, slips on his original Jasaris, and joins the group.
He proceeds to destroy us all with ease, running ~4:12 to our 4:20.
Before we could chat with the mystery man, he slipped off the Jasaris and trotted away. When we checked the results, his club was listed as "Speed Dojo."
Anyone know who this mysterious runner is/was?
