In a thread from long ago Canova said "THE ONLY QUALITY THAT YOU LOSE IS THAT ONE YOU DON'T TRAIN. So, you don't lose speed if you go for long run, but if you don't go for speed. At the same time, you don't lose endurance because you train your speed, but because you don't go for fast long run."
My question is when do specific attributes begin to decline when you neglect to train them and how often must you perform workouts to maintain them? For example if from today all I did was at run 85% of 5k pace when would I begin to lose my current high speed endurance (110% of 5k pace)?
