Hey guys,
I am a solid xc (just under 16 for 5k junior year) and strong mid distance runner that is wanting to improve my endurance, mostly 5k time in xc and longer races in track next year. I am thinking about going to an altitude camp this coming summer but I'm not sure if it's worth it. Is it worth the money to go out to Colorado for a few weeks over the summer or should I just stay home and build a nice mileage base? Also how long do the effects of the altitude training last? It wouldn't really be worth it if it only helped for the first few meets of xc and I'm back to normal by championship season. I do think it'd still be helpful if it lasted most of the way through the season to help me through workouts which will in turn help at the end of the season. I'm trying to get my 5k at least under 15:30 in xc.
Thanks for the help.
