Why do they have protests if they have officials?
Isn't the it the job of the officials to call a foul when they see it as it accours?
Either call it or don't. Why wait for a protest?

You don't DQ a champion when they dominated that way. Wait until she plays dirty getting 3rd. She wasn't losing today if she had been the one getting hit.
Ridiculous that Salazar actually won. Hasay doesn't deserve shit for her run today. She was toast long before she got pushed by Gabe.
She's not a champion. Champions play by the rules. It's not roller derby out there. What if Hasay had fallen? Would that change your opinion?
In 2009, Rodriguez pushes a runner on her way to winning the world 1500 and they dq'd her. How is this any different?
I don't agree with the DQ after watching the video. Seems kind of low of Nike/Salazar.

Well she may not be a champion under your ridiculous definition of it, but she was sure as hell the best 3000m runner in the field, and there's absolutely no doubt in anyone's mind that watched that race that is the case.
Did you watch the race? From your post, it doesn't look like you did. There wasn't any pushing, Hasay drifted out in the lane and got clipped by a faster runner. If it's okay for Rupp to shove Hill in the mens 3K, how is this different?

Finally got around to watching it. It wasn't as bad as I was expecting, but still unnecessary. "Like a toy car out of control" was a nice way to put it. She looked way out of control the entire last lap, so much so that she couldn't run a straight line and kept running up on people when there was plenty of room to pass. I don't believe it altered Hasay's or Rowbury's kick as they both seemed toast anyway. I think the dq could have gone either way.

What if she was named Gebrselassie, stepped on someone's heel, went on to win the race, and it was WCs?
Pretty sure that has happened, and there was no DQ.

Well, it went one way. (No DQ from field of play officials.)
And then it went that way again. (Protest denied.)
And then it went that way again. (Appeal denied.)
And then it went the other way. (Details not known.)
When have you ever heard of decision being re-examined over, and over, and over, and over again without 'extra' influence?
Salazar didn't get Grunewald DQ'd.... Grunewald did by acting like a spaz that has never run a track meet before. Push occurs... running into and taking out the 2 leaders should not be okay. If rules aren't important, I guess Grunewald should been allowed to take off 5 sec early..
My guess is 90% have never run indoors before.
GG was tucking in behind (first) JH, then SR and each time their back kick caught her because they weren't going as fast as she was, which is why she then pulled back over to pass each time. Had she stayed behind either of them, they would've tripped her up and ruined her race. She did what she had to do to stay upright and she won the race because of it, and USATF robbed her unjustly because one of Nike's employees had a hissy fit.
Hasay's last 200 was 35+. A slow last lap even by her standards. Could have been because of the contact from behind by Gabe.

I agree. The back and forth was absurd.
Like many here, I think there's way too much Nike in USATF. And it's true that Salazar is a bully. And I'm really no fan of Hasay.
BUT... I just watched the video and it's clear that GG rides up to Hasay on the inside and then switches to the outside and trips her. She also tries to do the same to Vaugh in the back straight.
Go watch the video:

Watching it live I thought at the time it was a foul. I looked at my wife and said I won't be surprised if she gets DQ'ed. Now I see that she was. Stuff happens.
Can someone please post a link to or cut and past USATF DQ appeals procedures? Obviously, it's done, but what is the protocol on appeals, I thought they were typically final.
Too many minor incidents with Al using his power and influence to get things to go his way. This guy is a maniac and needs to be contained before he destroys the integrity of US distance running. Has someone started a petition yet? I would gladly sign... Where are the details of his 3rd protest? I'm only asking for transparency. This guy is pure slime and is operating a mafia.
Watched the race. Grunewald tried to pass Hasay on the inside, despite not having room to do it. It looked like she realized she couldn't get by, ignored the fact that she was nearly running into Hasay while trying to push past on the inside already, and proceeded to pass on the outside. She cut right through Hasay's trailing leg with no justifiable excuse since she put herself in that position by trying to pass on the inside. Hasay stumbled and lost her momentum. She was already well into her kick at that point and she was well clear of the field. The only person around her was Grunewald behind and Rowbury a little ahead. Grunewald then caught up to Rowbury and ALMOST TRIPPED HER TOO doing the same thing. It's obvious Grunewald was 100% at fault for Hasay being impeded. Whether Hasay would have finished higher is irrelevant. The point is that she was impeded. Grunewald impeded another runner without a justifiable reason and deserves the DQ. It's not even like there was a pack and jostling going on. Grunewald literally ran up behind Hasay, tripped her, then ran up to Rowbury, almost tripped her, then put about 50m on Rowbury in the last half lap. Pretty impressive kick. Doesn't excuse breaking the rules.
Is there corruption in the USATF? If so, it appears to have been in Grunewald's favour, because it took two appeals before they made the right decision.
You are high as F if you think that it DQ-able. Not even close. If you;ve ever been in a track race, especially indoor, this kind of minimal contact not only normal but expected. I can't really even see the contact anyway, just hassay stumble. To overturn 2 decisions is beyond ridiculous and clear as day an AlSal tantrum.
What about the Ryun situation in Munich 1972? The appeal was never heard despite clear evidence. Stop being emotional. She ran like shit. Clearly the winner, but we have rules.
Gabes story is really inspirational BUT that doesn't mean she deserves to not get DQ'ed. The fact is the contact that she forced could have been easily avoided if she had got into lane 2 much earlier. Then she still would have won right? So, she made the tactical mistake and is paying for it with a DQ.
