Wait, what are you trying to say with the "ham and eggers" comment? I can assure you that D3 programs aren't recruiting many foreigners.
Also, why do you think foreign athletes don't need to be coached?
He's saying they need 'less' coaching because they are already really good, vs your non foreign athlete who may need a bit more TLC and time to develop them into a great runner. You COULD coach and continue to develop a great athlete (like Lawli Lalang), sure, but in a sport like cross that is team sport it becomes a moot point if he is already blowing away every race. The emphasis falls back on the team aspect, and you can spend more time developing your other runners who need it in order to improve the team as a whole.
