My current mile and a half time is 8:42, how long of hard training would it take to bring it down to sub 8? What are the best workouts to reduce it in the next 2 months.
My current mile and a half time is 8:42, how long of hard training would it take to bring it down to sub 8? What are the best workouts to reduce it in the next 2 months.
I've never run a 2400 but I feel like the best workouts would be:
8x400 with 2-4 minutes rests at slightly faster than goal pace
4x800 with 1-3 minutes rests at goal pace
3-5mi tempos at slower than goal pace
5:20 pace (yeah yeah, 1609 =/= 1600) is really convenient for track workouts because it is 20 seconds to the 100m / 40 seconds to the 200m.
Oh shit, didn't see you posted a 8:42. I think you should target 8:20 first and ignore 8:00 for the time being. That's WAY too big of a jump.
