left foot twinged. stressie?
We'll have more later but Rupp didn't think the injury was a big deal and didn't feel it was worth risking anything by continuing.
His assistant coach Pete Julian also said he thought Galen would be ok.
Seems like he's still recovering from his world record in the 3x1600i.
Seems like when myself and others said that, you know-it-alls...SMJO etc...didn't really know sh&t, did ya?

you see what you people have done? Do you see it? All the drugs stuff, bad media attention, rumors, etc etc....breaking another record would bring unwanted attention! Can't you see he and team want to tone it back some....what do you expect?...the more questions than awards....better to walk off the track at this point...thanks a lot all!
I am getting the sense (if this foot thing is not a serious injury) that Rupp is the Payton Manning of US running.
Impressive "regular season" stats with plenty of US records but fails to win when it counts.

The guy has got an Olympic silver medal. WAY above what anyone could expect of him. You fail.

Yeah bro and Peyton Manning has a Super Bowl ring.
Agreed
On a national level, I seriously have a hard time thinking of a time he HAS NOT won when it counts. Even in the trials for the World Championships and Olympics he has "won" since 2007 by making the national team even if he has not won outright. He is 6 times USATF champion at 10000M and has 6 NCAA titles.

This is the exact problem with Rupp/Salazar and why so many people hate them though. If everything is not 100% perfect and according to plan they bail and bitch out. Case in point this race, it was not exactly what they wanted and thus they simply pulled the plug. Rupp and Salazar are quitters, when they can't win or be the best they quit.
Just race for christ's sake, Rupp is basically the anti-pre. Also he looks pathetic in the pic on the LRC page about the press conference. Grow up and dress like an adult, what a dweeb

You need to read more. Rupp is the anti-Pre. Pre >>>>> Rupp.

Yes, and therefore he doesn't lose extra time to injury, and when the most important races are run, he's ready. It's not a "problem"- it's a strength of his preparation.
I like Rupp and have no problem with him or anyone else dropping out of a race. However, that get up from the pre race press conference was a joke, Does the wife check his bag before he leaves town? Do people in the NW really dress like Rupp?

Rupp was moving up when it happened. He was in great position to make a go of it.
Don't be so ignorant.

Yep. Rupp became the anti-Pre when he won an OLYMPIC MEDAL!!!
Whatever else you want to claim about Rupp, he has the most voluminous resume of top-level performances of any American-origin runner, ever. We are talking sub-4:00/7:50'13:30/27:45-type performances, the kind that all of us on this board can not even sniff at, yet he bangs them out, season after season, year after year. Has he ever not finished a race he started, unless he was tripped? 13 years and so far no major injuries. Maybe your athletes are True Men, eat barbed wire and drink kerosene for breakfast, and make the cover of GQ every other month, but the guy is so fvcking consistent it hurts.

What do you guys want Rupp to be wearing? Just because he's not wearing his cargo pants and fedora or whatever most letsrun posters wear doesn't mean anything. What would you wear if you could pull anything from Nikes closet? That letterman jacket is cool and probably costs a stack or two.
Besides that, what other races has he dropped out of? Surely very few.
