I know there are studies that show ice baths hamper effects of training. Would it work to take ice bath after a recovery run the day after a hard workout, so you still get better effects of hard workout

Excellent question. Worthy of research
I'm wondering if I'll get the benefit of an ice bath if I take a hot shower after it.

Ice baths are basically the bro science of running.
Some people do them because some people they know did them. There is no evidence for them working (or not working).
Do whatever makes you feel good.
The problem with researching the effectiveness of ice baths is that it is impossible to have a control group.
Isn't it that simple? If YOU feel better after doing them -keep doing them. If not, why bother?
Like someone else said, its like the bro science of running.
Considering that, don't do them. There's nothing to show they do or don't work, so just save the time and take it easy. the best way to recover is by resting and staying off your feet. Or running in a hydroworx treadmill before dinner or hopping in the cryosauna after a workout but none of us are rich so we rest for recovery like the east africans and it seems to work well for them.

Why is it impossible?
20 guys, same training.
10 ice, 10 don't. There's your control.
It's definitely impossible to have a blinded control group, if that's what you're getting at :)
