The flotrack guys said Galen was doing 25-26 200s on the BU track Thursday night looking like he was just doing strides like he owned the place. They said this while Galen was doing strides around 5-8 min before the race started.
This also goes against the idea that they don't do anything but easy days between races/post race workouts. They still do workouts, just lighter ones.
Dellinger/Oregon considered those kinds of 200's to be a "drill," akin to strides...after a medium or long run. They weren't considered a interval workout.
Salazar personally used those a lot after his medium and long runs.
Dellinger particularly believed in that "drill," and especially for guys coming back from injury to get back in shape. Generally the idea was to run a 200 in under 30 seconds, and click off another one 30 seconds later. When you were fit enough you could do them in 25-26 and the mid distance guys even faster.
