If I wanted to stay with my general plan, but drop the high end aerobic cruise intervals and keep the fast steady PM runs and speed development work would that be better? Also, would the speed development stuff be better to do immediately following my AM jog, or even mixed in as a fartlek? i.e. 60 minute easy jogging w/ 5-10 short sprints, hill bounds, strides, etc. thrown in? And also, when I say easy jogging I mean EASY like 7:40-8:00/mile for 4-8 miles.

Su: Easy jog or rest
Coach D: Is the more lactic work like cutbacks from 16-12-8-4 or fast intervals necessary during the base phase?
